The Doosan DX800LC was a
pleasant surprise at the recent
Bauma trade show, and even
better is that it is 1:50th scale.

Tracked Excavator

On the stand at the Bauma trade show, Doosan displayed its
heavyweight DX800LC tracked excavator, a machine tipping
the scales around the 78-ton mark depending on configuration.
The machine is powered by a Perkins 2506D 6-cylinder engine

which generates an impressive 645hp and can be configured with
two different boom and three stick length combinations while the
bucket capacity ranges from 3,42 to 5,58 M3. What was a surprise
is that a 1:50th scale model of the DX800 has been commissioned
with a limited number available in the Doosan merchandising
store which were sold out within the first day of the show
however, it is now available from the Doosan online shop
(www.doosan-store.com)

is rugged in appearance with
something you don’t often see.
the track frames incorporating
the lower roller mounts
integrated into the track frame
castings with two upper rollers and
central support keeping a nice shape
to the track chain which is made from
plastic and incorporates double
grouser track pads. Interestingly, the
access steps are missing from the
undercarriage which has tensioned
idler wheels to keep the tracks taut.
