REALISTIC WEATHERING
Fading and using Oilbrusher products
In this issue, Iosu Jiminez begins a three-part weathering guide on how to apply a full weathering
process to any construction, truck or farm vehicle. The model we have chosen for this demonstration is
a 1:50th scale Komatsu PC210 excavator from Universal Hobbies, but you can apply the same process
to any other Die-cast model.
Weathering of a model is achieved through several effects applied in successive layers; the order of
the layers/effects is important to get that real look that we like to see so much in the models. The first
weathering layer we are going to apply is the paint fading. This layer effect will be the base and shows
the wear and fade of the vehicle ́ s paint due to the exposure to sun, rain and the passing of time.
In these links you can find the whole range of One-Shot colours
as well as a video tutorial on how to apply them.
The first step in every model is to apply a coat of primer. In the
die-cast painted models, you can use One Shot Transparent Primer
A.MIG-2041. The primer coat will allow the following colours and Before applying the primer, you must mask the windows. We have

Apply the primer on the whole model in two or three thin layers
One Shot primers can be used without dilution, but you can thin it letting the paint dry for a few seconds between each layer. It is
