From the editor
A s we start a new year, it is not possible to look ahead
with any certainty, particularly with Covid still causing
problems with events, like the cancellation of the
Nuremberg toy fair to name but one. Other knock-on effects of the
last two years are an increase in the cost of a wide range of things,
from models and shipping to energy and food. In the last
12 months, the cost of printing TPM has almost doubled, so while
I have always been reluctant to increase the cover price of the
magazine, current events have forced my hand, or the magazine Steven Downes
would no longer be viable. From this issue, the cover price has Truck, Plant & Machinery
increased to £6.50 and I can only hope that readers continue to Model World Editor
enjoy the content. Email: editor@tpmmagazine.co.uk

This issue has increased to 76 pages, packed with reviews of the latest
models, a preview of the upcoming Hitachi ZX300LC-7 and a centre-section
in the magazine covering the range of available BELAZ models, both in Find us
die-cast form and also a pair of wooden mechanical construction kits.
New model releases are still plagued by delays, particularly with the
issues surrounding logistics and these are likely to last for the foreseeable
future. With the Bauma trade show still expected to go ahead in October,
it is hard to predict what new model announcements will be made in the
coming months, and when new models will become available. Will OEMs
hold them back until October, or will models planned to be available for
April release ahead of Bauma. I will try to answer this question in the next
issue which is due in April.
Some good news for a change is the return of HEMS (Heavy Equipment
Model Show) which has been moved forward and will take place on the
10th April from 10am till 4pm at the usual venue, Burnley Football Club
Turf Moor Stadium, Harry Potts Way, Burnley, BB10 4BX. For bookings
and info, contact Gordon Sharpe on 07976 297083
Until next time, happy reading
