Volvo L150H Wheel Loader

Presented here is the 1:50th scale Volvo L150H wheel loader which has been produced in China by Motorart. Once again, Motorart have done a great job in capturing the rugged appearance of the latest generation styling with much more realism found throughout the model.

The cabin has a fully modelled interior finished in a black colour scheme with contoured glazing, printed window seals and metal grab rails fitted to the frame. Rear view mirrors are located on both sides of the cabin with the right side mirror extending out on a metal frame while a large wiper blade is fitted centrally to the front windscreen.

The model highlights the ability to tilt the cabin sideways for servicing needs and is complete with a hydraulic actuator, tilting over 80 degrees. Interestingly, this uncovers the steering ram rods which are incomplete, with the cylinders omitted and this looks a little strange and more of a compromise with the engineering of the model.

The rear engine cover can be tilted backwards to reveal the very nicely modelled and decorated engine bay with the diesel engine block centrally located with silver finished exhaust silencer and rear radiator housing all visible. Service steps are located low down on each side of the chassis behind the rear wheels.

The main access steps fitted to both sides of the chassis have intricate metal steps with a raised anti-slip surface and black printing used to simulate the rubber mounts for the lowest step. small gauge metal grab rails aid the operator in accessing the cabin with safety railings located on the side platforms leading to the engine bay.

The rear ballast has an integrated towing connection point with modelled tow pin and inset lights with coloured plastic lenses. the fine texturing of the rear grill looks authentic with the raised and silver highlighted Volvo logo clearly displayed, topped with small lights towards the top of the rear engine cover. The side engine grills have an equally fine textured surface and have been highlighted with black paint.

The articulating chassis achieves a fairly realistic range of steering motion with hydraulic rams visible across the joint. Unfortunately, there are no drive-train or hydraulic lines fitted. The Volvo name is embossed into the side of the straight edged material handling bucket which is a nice added touch and the linkage offers a good range of tipping movement with all pin heads painted over for a better appearance.

The paint finish is to a very high standard with good colour separation between yellow and grey areas while the printing of the Volvo logos and machine designation is crisply applied. The L150H is a most welcome addition to the Volvo wheel loader fleet and surpasses the previously released L220G and L250G in terms of attention to detail.
