Sandvik UH440i Mobile Crusher Unit
Presented here is the Sandvik UH440i mobile crushing unit from Conrad. The UH440i features the CH440 cone crusher at the heart of the machine with a choice of VOLVO power packs generating 425hp. The 6 cubic metre hopper has automatic speed control to maintain material levels within the crusher which has a 215mm maximum feed size and a capacity of up to 350 metric tonne per hour. The model has been accurately replicated in 1:50th scale with good detailing throughout.
The main discharge conveyor casting features structural frame detailing with a single piece, flexible rubber belt traveling along the entire length of the conveyor.

The conveyor features an enclosed upper surface with dust collector housing and the discharge height can be adjusted by inserting the plastic pins into one of the four holes in the chassis. Out of the box, the model is fully assembled and only requires a pair of safety railings and the light tower to be attached. |

The track frames have good cast detailing of the lower roller wheels with plastic track bands fitted. The tracks have triple grouser ridges moulded into each pad and they do look fairly realistic.

I have to admit that the use of plastic band tracks is a little surprising considering many manufacturers are now producing replicas of tracked machines with authentic linked metal tracks, and these are the same as those fitted to the UJ440i primary crusher. |
The main chassis frame has some good, crisp casting details and the model itself is very heavy and well engineered, one of the trademarks of a Conrad model. |

The metal safety railings are accurately scaled and look good, with flooring platforms having black printed anti-slip mats. One nice addition are the opening safety gates on both sides of the chassis.

Access steps leading up to the power pack and crusher are integrated into the side of the chassis with accurately scaled grab rails added for a little extra realism. The angular engine housing has been fully replicated with a textured silver cooling grill and surface detailing of the panels and handles. The engine module is different to that fitted on the UJ440i and has a little more fine detailing. |

A floodlight and signal post is included with the model and fits into the hole on the engine housing, The post has painted red,blue and yellow lenses with four silver highlighted floodlight lenses.
The crusher module is centrally located within the chassis and features a moving inner crusher cone.

The inside surfaces of the hopper have been covered in a rubber material, authentically simulating the lining used on the full sized machine to protect the hopper from damage, while also reducing noise.
The conveyor belt is made of a pliable rubber and will rotate, with a protective frame integrated into the hopper to protect the belt from damage , deflecting large objects to prevent them landing directly onto the belt. |

The feed hopper is hinged, allowing it to be lowered to reduce the height of the machine during transport (shown above). It uses a single hydraulic cylinder to rise up into working position. |

An observation platform is integrated into the chassis, allowing the operator to monitor the contents of the hopper. Two safety railings need to be fitted when the model is posed in a working position, and these are removed for transport.
The UH440i is a secondary crushing unit, and makes a good companion to the previously released UJ440i primary jaw crusher. As with the UJ440i, the level of detail and engineering is crisp and clean, as is expected from Conrad and the weight of the model is substantial.
