Hitachie ZX1000 Mass Excavation / Specialist Lifting Booms

Following on from the success of the previous boom kits, Gaz Evans has come up with a replacement mass excavation boom and specialist lifting boom to fit the Hitachi ZX1000 from NZG.

As an add-on, everything is supplied in the kit to allow the boom to be fully constructed without touching the base model. This makes it a great started kit for all those who are inexperienced with custom modelling. The resin boom and stick have integrated pipework with white metal bucket linkage with a resin cast bucket with nicely defined wear detail and teeth.

The hydraulic pistons and cylinders are supplied and the friction on the hydraulics allow the model to be accurately posed. The quality of the castings are very good with very little tidying up to do. The drilling of the holes for the pins is straight forward and, for a little extra detailing, once the boom is connected to the base model, you can mark and drill the location where the support pin goes.

The specialist lifting boom is another good idea, used in real life for loading of the front end equipment and counterweights for transport to negate the need for a support crane. It fits onto the base model with ease and the chain in the picture is from the Sword models tie-down chain set.
