Yanmar SV60 Tracked Excavator

The SV60 is a brand new product from Yanmar, first unveiled at the Intermat trade show in 2018 with a matching 1:50th scale model produced by Ros released at the same time. The model was first announced during the international Toyfair in 2018 and I have to admit that there is plenty of detail in a rather diminutive model which is always good to see.

The cabin interior looks to have been accurately captured, although everything is in a grey colour with the exception of the seat and it would have looked better with the joysticks painted.

There is also a slightly frosted finish to some of the glazing rather than it being crystal clear. All windows are flush fitting with printing used around the edges to mimic the rubber seals.

External cabin detailing includes rear view and safety mirrors with a silvered face, roof window, aerial and amber beacon.

The undercarriage has rubber band style tracks with a surface texture and a working dozer blade.

All lower and upper roller detailing is integrated into the track frame castings.

The body casting has been done with indentations for the grill slots which are then highlighted in black which look good, and the small safety markings add to the realism

The digging equipment is fully functional, with a fair range of movement and accentuated with flexible hydraulic lines which are finished in grey, presumably to mimic armoured hoses with fixed silver piping and black hoses at the base of the boom.

Screws have been used to assemble the moving parts which is something I am not personally in favour of and the tilting bucket looks a little strange, although it is modelled on the real machine which also has this option.
