Volvo L90H Wheel Loader

Presented here is the 1:50th scale Volvo L90H wheel loader from Motorart. It is an update to the L90 line, replacing the previously released L90G and improves on some of the engineering issues found on the "G-Series" model, particularly with the hydraulic rams which are now back to metal and have a fair resistance to them.

The L90H shares many of the same castings as its smaller brother, the L60H. Where the models differ is with the bucket, as the L90H has a toothed bucket in contrast to the straight edge bucket of the L60H.  The use of metal for the various safety and grab railings is good to see and while the loader arms don’t quite go low enough to touch the ground, the range of movement of the arms and bucket linkage is reasonable. It is a pity there are no steering cylinders or any detail across the articulating point on the chassis. The tyres have a solidly moulded tread pattern with plastic wheel hubs highlighting the ring of fixing bolts.

The cabin has been modelled with a replicated interior which looks fine, highlighting the driver's seat and steering wheel while the outside of the cab is also nicely done with grab rails, rear view mirrors and both front and rear wipers added. Black printing has been applied to the glazing and an amber beacon is placed on the roof.

The rear engine compartment is hinged and can be lifted up to reveal a plastic replica of the engine block, radiator housing and cooling fan with green once again used to highlight the Volvo engine block and silver for the exhaust components.

The side grills are particularly well done with a fine mesh pattern. The rear counterweight does have integrated lights with red lenses and a silver finished towing pin which is glued in place.
