Volvo FH 6x2 with 3-axle Flatbed Trailer and Log Load
"Steve Swain Transport Ltd"

Presented here is the 1:50th scale Volvo FH 6x2 tractor with 3-axle flatbed trailer and log load in the livery of Steve Swain Transport Ltd from Corgi. Like most Corgi models, the chassis detail is very basic although this area of the model is often hidden when displayed so this is not much of a problem. One dissapointment is the fixed front axle which prevents the model from being posed with the wheels turning and I always wonder why Corgi cannot add working steering to all their models. The wheel hubs have some good detailing with red centres while the tyres have a realistic looking tread pattern.

The cab interior has been replicated with the seating, steering wheel and dashboard all visible through the front and side windows. The roof sports six large driving lights with chromed housings and tinted blue lenses with chromed air horns on each side of the roof. Aerials are supplied with the model and need fixing to the holes in the roof and this also adds to the level of realism.

The rear view mirrors need fitting to the model and a touch of glue is recommended to ensure they stay in place. The graphic printing all around the cab is very crisply done, with intricate artwork applied very well and the white pin lines really adding to the realistic appearance. The red and blue livery is certainly striking and there are some additional detailing additions which are new to Corgi, like the flexible plastic flaps below the front bumper which have the Volvo logo printed on them and the protective mesh front screen fitted in front of the grill which looks particularly good (although this was damaged when i opened the box and required a touch of glue)

The three axle flat bed trailer is reasonably detailed with side safety frames, rotating wheels which have silver hubs with red centres and silver highlighted mud guard faces.
The cast load supplied with the model consists of five blocks of logs, complete with upright frames and tie-down chain detailing all intricately cast into the surface of the single block.
The paint finish adds tone and highlight for added realism and they certainly look ok when mounted on the trailer.
