1:50th Scale Terex TR60 Quarry Truck

Terex TR60 in Malcolm Livery

Presented here is the limitd edition "Malcolm Construction" version of the Terex TR60 quarry truck in 1:50th scale from NZG. The TR60 is a popular sized haul truck used in a number of small mines and quarries throughout the world and it is great to see it appear in a company decoration. NZG have done an amazing job to create a very detailed and realistic replica that really stands out on the shelf.

The main dump body can be tipped to a very acute angle and the three-stage cylinders are just about stiff enough for the body to remain fully raised. The corners of the single piece body have integrated lifting eyes and tyre protection panels are fitted to the sides of the body, complete with visible fixing details.

The Malcolm company logos are tampo printed on the sides and inner areas of the dump body with the company website printed on the upper edge on each side.

The fully replicated cab, complete with driver and trainee seats and steering console are all visible through the clear glazed windows. The cab frame has fitted rear view mirrors and there are a host of mirrors fitted to the safety railings on each side of the upper body giving views all around the front and sides of the truck.

The safety railings are all made of metal and are accurately scaled to give the model a very realistic appearance and the front radiator grill with integrated headlights prominently displays the printed Terex logo. Behind the radiator grill is a large modelled cooling fan connected to the replicated engine block housed at the heart of the chassis frame.

The large rear tyres have a very realistic looking tread pattern and the inner and outer wheels rotate independently of each other which is a nice touch on the model. The dump bed has a heated body socket and flexible hydraulic hoses fitted to the three-stage lift cylinders.

The main fuel and hydraulic tanks are mounted to the sides of the chassis with side access panel detailing and filler caps all replicated. Mounted between the frame is the main transmission block with drive shafts connecting the rear hub and engine block.

The front frame has access steps with black painting simulating the stiff rubber used on the full sized machine for that extra level of realism. The silver painted steps up the wheel arches have a textured surface and black painted anti-slip panels are visible on the upper deck surfaces. the latest Malcolm logos have been added to the cab and the fleet number has been printed on the side of the engine housing.

The flexible rubber flaps fitted to both sides of the fuel / hydraulic tanks are another nice touch with horizontally fitted flaps located between the tanks and upper deck which is the first model I have seen that have these fitted. Small rubber flaps are also fitted to the underside of the dump bed. The wheel hubs on the model feature the most detailed and realistic looking bolt fixings which are square in shape and highlighted with silver paint which really helps them stand out against the black hub colour.

The underside of the model is highly detailed with protection plates covering the replicated engine and transmission blocks along with small hydraulics operating the front axle steering which can achieve a very respectable turning radius. The rear axle features a functional suspension system with a centrally mounted brake and reverse light panel with painted orange and silver lenses located above the rear axle.

The paint finish is excellent with crisp printing of the Malcolm Construction graphics throughout. This is another great release in the growing Malcolm Construction range of replicas and is pictured below alongside the limited edition Terex TA40 in Malcolm Livery.
