Terex Fuchs MHL350 Material Handler

For years, Conrad has produced models for Fuchs of the popular MHL350 scrap handler and it is always interesting to see the differences to the model as each update is released.

The latest update is certainly more than just cosmetic, as the model is a lot different to its predecessor, starting with the body design which incorporates printing on the side for the various grills with the counterweight having a new design, finished in a combination of blue and grey.

The undercarriage has been updated with the addition of silver access steps with a driveshaft to both axles fitted to the underside. Interestingly, there is still no functioning steering with both axles fixed. The four outriggers can be lowered and are stiff enough to raise the model off its wheels whilst the tyres have a crisp moulded tread pattern with silver hubs and black centres

The spacious cabin is also totally different to previous releases with a curved roof and modelled interior which shows the operator seat and joystick controls with clear glazing used for the windows.

Below the cabin is an access step with a grab rail incorporated into the cab’s frame.

The cab riser is of a new lattice design and operates smoothly giving an unobstructed view of the work area with the hydraulic stiff enough to remain in any chosen position.

The hydraulic feeds from the valve block and along the back of the boom are now raised which increases the realism while feeds to the individual cylinders have not been fitted.

The stick and boom have a very realistic range of movement and will hold any position.

A cactus scrap grab is fitted to the end of the stick, complete with flexible hydraulic lines and has the ability to open and close. It is fitted with a plastic pin, allowing it to be disconnected. The paint finish of the model is very good with crisply applied graphics and Fuchs markings.
