Sennebogen 875E Material Handler

Presented here is the 1:50th scale Sennebogen 875E material handler with MS180 mobile undercarriage which has been produced in China by Ros. The boom, stick, work tools, main body and cabin use the same tooling as the 875E tracked material handler with differences observed with the walkways running along the sides of the upper structure which have access steps to the rear.

The MS180 wheeled undercarriage has been executed well, with the four axles all having a linked steering system operated by linkage bars on one side of the chassis connected to a central arm which pivots, operating the steering on the axles. The axles are organised in pairs, with each pair connected to bogies which offer some oscillation to simulate the suspension system and while this works, there is a feel that the mechanism is fragile, as is the steering linkage so care needs to be taken. Each rotating wheel hub is fitted with a pair of tyres which have a moulded tread pattern.

The opposite side of the chassis has all the hydraulic hose lines running to each end of the frame where the operating outriggers are situated. The large circular pads can be lowered to provide a stable base by rotating them which unfortunately reveals the screw thread.

With the outrigger arms at full extension, they have a fair bit of movement and do not look right if all the weight of the model is transferred to the outriggers, causing them to droop. Each leg has what appear to be mirrors fitted to provide the operator with a good all-round view although they do not have a silver or reflective surface.

A platform is mounted on each end of the chassis, complete with an access ladder and raised metal safety railings which line up with the steps at the rear of the upper structure when the body is in line with the chassis for easy service access.

A tubular riser is installed between the chassis and upper structure to increase the working height of the machine and this allows the cabin, connected to the hydraulic elevating and forward moving linkage to lower fully to ground level, something not possible on the tracked gantry version.

The Mastercab cabin has a light coloured finished interior consisting of the operator’s seat and hand controls with a side console, all visible through the large glazed windows which have printed black window gaskets, roof mounted lights and a large screen wiper. Even an amber beacon has been added to the roof.

The addition of two different work tools, a 6-tine scrap grab and a clamshell grab allow for different configurations to be shown.

This is easily achieved using the supplied pin and tucking in the flexible hydraulic hoses into the recess at the end of the stick.
