Sennebogen 6113E Telescopic Crawler Crane

Presented here is the Sennebogen 6113E telescopic crawler crane whioch has been produced by Ros in 1:50th scale. The model has a significant weight to it and a solid build which is enhanced with plenty of detail and realism.

The undercarriage features extending track frames which are rather plain in appearance with all the lower roller detailing integrated into the frame casting. The final drive housing shows all the bolt details and the linked tracks do rotate with tensioned idler wheels. Green painting of the lifting eyes is a nice touch, as are the warning labels and the central section of the undercarriage frame has pivoting jacks which are used during self assembly when the track frames need to be detached and these are height adjustable by rotating them.

The upper body has a detachable side panel hiding the winch winding key, something we have seen before from Ros and a nice touch to prevent losing the winder. The rear ballast arrangement is cast as a single block which is not easily detachable from the model and this is maybe the only area of the model which I would have personally preferred to see more functionality. The counterweight lifting mechanisms have been modelled, complete with lifting chains which does add to the realism and all the safety railings are produced from metal which gives a big improvement over previous releases.

The main boom can be adjusted in height with the main cylinder very stiff, so it can hold position when the sections are not fully extended. The weight in the base does allow a fair bit of stability when the boom is extended and the cylinder does appear to hold, but unlike previous releases, there are no holes in the cylinder where a pin can be inserted to ensure the boom does not lower unexpectedly.

The cabin has a light coloured interior consisting of the side console and hand levers with platforms integrated into the front and side with the entire cabin frame tilting to an angle of about 20 degrees. Exterior detailing includes front and upper grab rails, screen wiper, printed window seals and a weight warning tower which has different colours representing safe and unsafe levels.

The model is ready for work right out of the box, with the hook block fully rigged while the side extension jib is a nice touch, having an extending support for easy connection to the boom head, just like the full sized machine. The jib can be set to one of three angles by extracting the metal pins which again shows attention to detail.

There is a work platform included in the box with some nice engineering using tiny pivoting brackets that release the hinged side sections, thus allowing the length of the platform to be adjusted and this is achieved in a very convincing way, with hinged floor panels then settling into place to keep everything rigid. The model is available from the Sennebogen online fanshop.
