Sandvik TH663 Underground Hauler
The Sandvik TH663 is the flagship machine in the underground hauler range, tipping the scales at 42 tonnes with a payload of 63 tonnes. It is powered by a Cummins QSK19 diesel engine delivering 567 kW, enough power to achieve a top haul speed of 42.5 kph and has overall dimensions of 11.58 metres long and 3.48 metres wide. The ergonomic noise suppressed cabin is 35% larger than that of earlier models and is fully ROPS and FOPS certified with all servicing points accessible from ground level.
One unique feature is the built in self jacking system which allows the wheels to be raised off the ground for quicker and safer wheel changes in the event of a tyre failure and this system is fully functional on the new 1:50th scale replica produced by Conrad, with four jacks integrated into the chassis which have smooth hydraulic jacks that extend down and are stiff enough to hold the weight of the model.
Another safety feature is the lift up support bracket to prevent the dump body from lowering during maintenance and servicing.

Other details include metal safety railings, self fit rear view mirrors, flexible plastic lines across the articulation point which is powered by a pair of pistons and achieves a good turn angle and a replicated driveshaft to the rear axle.

Small plastic vents have been fitted to the model and these enhance the appearance, especially the circular one which has the outline of fan blades integrated into it. |
The front engine and cabin chassis module has both front and side plastic grilles which can be opened to reveal the internal radiators while a fold down front access ladder is also fitted.
The wheels have detailed hubs with treaded tyres that look great with both front and rear light clusters added for realism. A fire extinguisher has been added, along with yellow access steps leading to the cabin which has a replicated interior. The paint finish is flawless and the markings are accurate.
