Liebherr R916 Stick Extension

Boom configurations for excavators include long reach boom and sticks to provide a greater reach, typical in waterway maintenance and these are a favourite amongst custom builders. An alternative to replacing the entire boom is a stick extension, replacing the bucket and providing the excavator with an increased digging range.

Gaz Evans has recently launched a stick extension specifically designed to fit the quick coupler of the R916 tracked excavator. The kit is supplied with all the parts needed to assemble the kit including the linkage, a new quick coupler, stick hydraulic and an optional grading bucket which fits onto the end of the stick extension in place of the quick coupler, giving the collector the option of using the original bucket (as pictured here) or the grading bucket.

Assembly is straight forward and fits the base model without any modifications. The paint finish (Official can of Liebherr construction yellow paint) is a close match to the NZG model and the grey colour (Ral 7043) is a very close match to the grey bucket and undercarriage. The stick extension gives the model a much more interesting appearance.
