Nicolas TR 8x8 Tractomas Prime Mover

The Tractomas is considered the most powerful prime mover in the world with a towing capacity of up to 1000 ton and holds the world record for the largest semi-truck. Nicolas, a member of the TII Group has over 35 years experience in designing and producing a remarkable truck for the toughest conditions throughout the world, be it desert, arctic, military or mining, the Tractomas is perfectly suited for the most demanding applications.

Tonkin Replicas has released a stunning 1:50th scale replica of the latest TR 8x8 series truck which is packed with detail including the fully modelled chassis with underside replication of the drivetrain to all four driven axles.

The front axles have linked steering which achieves a fairly good degree of rotation.

The rear of the model has a pivoting fifth wheel coupling which has side to side movement and pin puller lever.

Plastic guards are fitted over the rear wheels with simulated rubber mud flaps while a rear frame houses the rear facing light clusters which have painted lenses.

A towbar hook-up bracket is also fitted to the rear chassis

The front of the model is fitted with fine photo-etched grills which really add to the realism with inset lights with plastic lenses and a folding upper bull bar.

The bull bar is hinged and can be lowered to allow the cabin to tilt forward, thus revealing the yellow finished Caterpillar diesel engine buried in the heart of the chassis.

The rear housing contains the cooling systems with fan blade detailing visible through the mesh panels and twin exhaust stacks hidden behind more etched grills.

A platform wraps around the chassis with a curved stairway giving easy access while steps are integrated into the front body panel on each side. Metal safety railings are fitted throughout with an access ladder leading to the top of the rear module.

The cabin has been fully modelled with opening doors revealing the multi-coloured interior with red finished seats, bunk bed and door panels.

The right hand drive layout has a contoured dashboard with highlighted controls and steering wheel while externally; wing mirrors are fitted to the door frames with a sun visor and beacons mounted to the roof.

The model is packaged in a new type of box with a stiff foam insert keeping the model secure. Also included is a mini brochure highlighting the history of the development along with details of the model options.
