Mecalac 8MCR Tracked Multi-Purpose Excavator

Presented here is the updated version of the Mecalac 8MCR tracked excavator in 1:50th scale from Conrad. The 8MCR concept is a machine which is capable of being an excavator, loader, handler and fork lift. The main feature of the 8MCR is the ability to travel at 10km/h due to the triangular tracked chassis allowing it to perform tasks usually assigned to a compact loader just as easily as tasks performed by a compact excavator. The rubber tracks on the model have a detailed tread pattern moulded into them with larger drive wheels giving the realistic triangular appearance.

The mode of operation is chosen by a selection switch in the cab allowing the same controls to be used to operate the machine as either a loader or excavator.

The new "Connect"" coupler fitted to the stick allows various work tools to be changed in only a few seconds, without the need of the driver to exit the cab. This mechanism has been authentically produced on the model and three work tools are provided in the box allowing the model to be displayed in either excavator, loader or fork lift configuration.

The design of the front dozer blade allows the stick to position the loader bucket against the blade surface to give greater breakout force and align the stresses through the chassis and this has been added to the model with re-enforced blade edges althoyugh unlike the earlier release, the bucket does not have the rollers fitted to the rear of the bucket. The boom linkage has been very nicely engineered and can be fully positioned just like the full sized machine with all the hydraulics nice and stiff allowing the work tool to be positioned as required.

The cab interior has been replicated with joystick controls and side located control console all visible through the large glazed window panels. The roof has cast safety bars allowing a good view when working at height without compromising the safety of the driver. This is a very nice addition to the Mecalac model line up with crisp casting, excellent paint finish and a heavy weight to the model, as is expected from Conrad. The model is supplied in a foam lined cardboard sleave with outer cardboard printed box.
