Mecalac 9MWR Wheeled Excavator

Mecalac 9MWR Wheeled Excavator

Presented here is the 1:50th scale Mecalac 9MWR wheeled excavator from Conrad. The wheeled undercarriage features steering of both axles with plastic covers over the wheels that turn as the axles turn. Drive shafts are fitted from the centre to both axles and both steps and storage compartments are incorporated into the middle chassis design which is also the location of the fuel tank so a filler cap has been modelled showing attention to detail.

At one end of the undercarriage is a pair of outriggers which can be adjusted and have pivoting pads while the opposite end of the chassis is fitted with a full length, height adjustable blade.

The Mecalac patented boom has plenty of adjustment and faithfully matches that of the full sized machine as much as is possible considering the tiny sizes of the parts.

The digging bucket has teeth while the wide loading bucket has a straight edge with the coupling bracket offset due to the offset location of the main boom to allow for the full sized cabin, so can only realistically be connected one way round.

As with the 15MWR, the model is fitted with a fully functional quick coupler system allowing the interchange of the three work tools, just as happens on the full sized machine and for this to operate, the bucket linkage is a little over scale.

The upper body has been captured well, with the side grill pattern moulded in plastic with a fine dimpled texture while the rear lights are inset into the counterweight with black paint used to highlight the handles on the body panels. The cabin has a plastic insert showing the operator’s seat, controls and steering wheel with slightly tinted windows.
