Liebherr R954C Tracked Excavator
Presented here is the ultimate edition 1:50th scale Liebherr R954C tracked excavator which is produced by Conrad and decorated in an orange and black colour scheme. The undercarriage has nicely formed linked metal tracks which are tensioned allowing them to remain taut while still rotating smoothly. They are narrower than the tracks fitted the original R954C and look more authentic.
The cab has an accurately scaled grab rail leading up the front edge of the frame with a plastic moulding for the interior, complete with seat and hand controls. The slightly tinted glazing has black printed seals simulating the rubber seals of the full sized machine for a little extra realism while a cab guard has been fitted for added protection.
As with most Conrad models, there is a fair bit of weight in the model with solid engineering and a realistic range of movement of the boom, stick and bucket. All the hydraulic cylinders have a smooth operation and are stiff enough to hold any given pose.

The body casting has been very well done and includes grill detailing and grab rails integrated into the upper edge of the engine bay. Nice touches on the model include the highlighted door catches on the engine panels and satin black printing of the anti-slip panels on the upper service areas. The model is supplied with a quick couler and four different work tools consisting of digging bucket, concrete shears, concrete pulverizer and sorting grapple. |
The finish of the model is good throughout with an even paint coating allowing the casting detail to show with a fairly good colour matching of the plastic hydraulic cylinders. The model is supplied in the usual foam lined inner wrap with printed outer cardboard box.
