Presented here is a modified 1:50th scale Liebherr R916 Advance tracked excavator from NZG. It is usual for model companies to produce the standard version of the machine and yet there are a number of different configurations in real life.

The model presented here has a hydraulically adjustable main boom (Taken from the A924C wheeled Excavator) which is a perfect fit to the superstructure. This gives the model a different look and yet is very realistic. the range of movement is good and the Likufix quick coupler is modelled well, fitted with a tilting grading bucket.

The modification is very simple to achieve, with the removal of the original boom requiring the main pin to be removed and the flexible hydraulic hoses require cutting carefully. The boom from the A924C is about the correct size and certainly looks the part when fitted.

Again, it is relatively simple to remove the boom, keeping all the hoses intact as these need to be re-assembled once the boom has been transplanted. The paint colours are a perfect match and once fully rebuilt, it is hard to imagine this is not a standard release.

The cab interior has been accurately reproduced with controls and drivers seat all visible through the large windows. The new design cab gives a greater view for the operator and has accurately scaled grab rails and rear view mirrors fitted to the frame. Even the rubber window seals have been simulated using black printing.

The undercarriage frame has highly detailed drive wheels with integrated access steps cast into the frames. The individually linked track pads have grouser and bolt detailing on each pad and link together using tension.
