Liebherr LTM1030-2.1 Mobile Crane

Presented here is the limited edition Liebherr LTM1030-2.1 mobile crane in 1:50th scale from Conrad. The model has been commissioned by IGP in the colours of Ainscough Training and is available from TheModelHobbyShop.

The model is decorated in a two tone light grey and green colour with black chassis with very crisp printing of the company logos and tiny printing of the regulatory agency logos across the front of the cabin. The upper deck has silver finished panels running the length of the chassis with a green stripe running along the edges.

The single stage outriggers slide out from the chassis with screw down pads allowing the model to be reailistically posed in a working configuration. Here they are printed with a white diagonal stripes. Both axles feature working steering with heavy duty treaded tyres and nicely moulded central wheel hubs finished in green. Access steps are integrated into the side body panels and highlighted with silver paint.

The two section fold out luffing jib is mounted on the side of the boom and uses pins to secure it in place during operation. The four stage telescopic boom can be extended and each stage locks at full extension with printing found on each extension. The lift cylinder is fairly stiff and allows the boom to remain in position when fully extended.

The paint finish is up to Conrad's usual high standards and the model is securely packed in a two section polystyrene carton with printed cardboard outer. While the model is showing it's age in terms of the levels of detail when compared to the latest crane releases, it is still good to see a release of a UK based company. Only 50 of the models are available to the collector market with 50 going directly to Ainscough Training for internal use.
