JLG Skytrak 8042 Telehandler
The 8042 telehandler from Skytrak has a three section boom providing a maximum lift height of 42 ft with a load carrying capacity of 8000 lb. Power is provided from the 4 cylinder Cummins QSB4.5T turbo diesel engine generating 110hp with four wheel power steering and 4-speed powershift transmission. The 1:32nd scale model from JLG is presented here and is a good replica of the full sized machine.

The rear of the model has another oscilating axle with functional steering and the angle that can be achieved before the tyres touch the chassis is very good The engine is mounted at the rear of the chassis and the rear frame panel has a detailed mesh grill pattern cast into it with side panels also visible. The boom mounting is relatively high and flexible pipework has been added to the rear of the boom. |
The front of the model has a functional oscilating axle with working steering and an interesting choice of rubber tyre which has a tread pattern more often found on wheel loaders than telehandlers. The hydraulic tilt cylinder allows the frame to be levelled by about 8 degrees and is stiff enough to hold the model at a slight tilt. |

The three section telecoping boom features working hydraulics mounted below the boom and alphabetical letters have been printed on the second boom section, just like the full sized machine. |
The open style cab has a nicely reproduced interior with contoured seat, steering wheel and console with side mounted levers and foot pedals all visible. The cab frame has grab handles and foot step to ease entry for the operator and rear facing mirrors with reflective surface are also present. |

The packaging consists of a two piece polystyrene inner carton which securely holds the model while the orange and white printed outer cardboard box has details of the JLG company. This is one of the first series of models released by JLG and has the part number 79779.
