The large platform is made entirely of plastic with detailed safety railings all round. The control console is centrally mounted at the end of the platform with joystick controls all modelled.

Entry to the platform is via the openings in the railings on each side with black painted grab areas on the upright frame and cross piece adding to the realism.

The platform ends can be extended to give a maximum length of 7.5" and a width of 3" with detailed ratchet handles fitted to the frame which lift up and are used on the full sized machine to manually adjust the amount of extension of the slide out end panels.

The undercarriage features four outriggers with screw thread jack legs that can be lowered to provide stability to the model while the fully functional steering mechanism is reproduced on the single steering axle.

The side mounted engine compartments feature integrated access ladders and cut out control panel with replicated switches and dials visible. There is even a horisontally mounted gas bottle connected to the frame.

The tread pattern on the small diameter tyres is totally realistic to the full sized machine and each model is sent to the engineers at JLG so that all details on the model can be checked and aproved against the real machine and drawings before production of the model commences.

The scissor mechanism has a single lift hydraulic cylinder which is just about stiff enough to hold the platform at any chosen height up to a maximum of 12" which might explain why the platform is made of plastic to keep the weight down.
