JLG G12-55A Telehandler

Presented here is the 1:32nd scale JLG G12-55A telehandler. The G12-55A is one of the larger machines in the JLG range featuring a maximum lift height of 55 ft and a carrying capacity of 12000 lb with a John Deere 4045T Turbocharged 4 cylinder engine delivering an impressive 140hp giving a forward travel speed of 20mph. The highly detailed 1:32nd scale model replica from JLG is presented here.

The undercarriage of the G12-55A features a fully functional suspension system which allows the chassis to tilt by about 10 degrees, known as frame leveling which is a nice touch on the model. This is achieved by having both drive axles floating with the front axle connected to a hydraulic cylinder.

The axle casings are finely detailed with drive train and access panel plates all cast while the reproduced all wheel steering allows the model to be posed in a number of configurations including tight radius turn or crab steer.

The front mounted fold down stabilisers are functional and provide added stability to the model when lowered.

The rubber tyres fitted to the wheels have a crisp molded tread pattern which is authentic to the real machine while the wheel hubs have casting details such as bolt heads and the disc brake housings.

The low slung rear counterweight has cast lifting eyes and is printed with the JLG website address.

The main boom is connected to the frame and uses two main hydraulic cylinders to keep the boom raised.

Between the boom mounting point is a fully reproduced hydraulic distribution block which has simulated flexible plastic hoses fitted which connect to the main lift cylinders. This gives added realism to the model and is another example of the detail level to be found on the range of JLG models.

The silver exhaust stack is mounted to the frame behind the rear wheel while the other side of the model has the engines air intake and filter mounted to the rear of the cab.

The side mounted engine bay does not open on the model which is a little surprising considering the other functional details found on the model.

The engine cover itself is finely cast with grill cutouts and handle all present. There is also a rear view mirror mounted to the front of the housing which has a reflective surface.

The four section telescopic boom is fully extendable and the second stage boom section has printed numbers down the length of it and is connected to a working hydraulic cylinder.

The other sections can also be extended but are quite loose and there is no resistance to keep them in a position chosen. The sections do appear to lock in the fully extended position so the model can be posed fully raised.

The open style cab is fully reproduced with authentic molded seat, complete with seat adjustment controls and arm rest. The front console has a three spoke steering wheel with column mounted levers and fully reproduced instrument panel while the operation of the boom is by the side console mounted joystick. Even the foot pedals have been added to the model which shows the attention to detail that has gone into the development of the model.

The model is finished in the striking orange and cream corporate JLG colours with authentic JLG logos on the boom while the website address is printed on the rear counterweight. The packaging consists of a two piece polystyrene inner carton which securely holds the model while the orange and white printed outer cardboard box has details of the JLG company . This is one of the first series of models released by JLG and has the part number 79759.
