Doosan DX140W Wheeled Excavator

Universal Hobbies have already produced a number of good looking 1:50th scale construction models and they have now produced their first Doosan release in the form of the DX140W wheeled excavator which again shows some rather nice attention to detail.

The upper carriage uses printing to highlight the grills on the body panels with plastic railings looking to be authentically scaled, complete with integrated safety mirrors and inset panel handles.

The wheeled undercarriage is fitted with double tyres with a deep tread and has a steering axle with a height adjustable blade fitted to the front

A pair of outriggers are located at the other end of the chassis, complete with hinged covers protecting the hydraulics.

The cabin has a fully finished interior which includes the hand controls and red painted safety lever while the frame of the cab has a roof window, sun visor, amber beacon, aerial, two screen wipers and a worklight bar fitted with four painted lenses.

The two piece main boom and stick are complemented with both fixed and flexible hydraulic lines, including the auxiliary circuits which really enhance the appearance. While small screws are still being used to attach everything, they are not overly distracting, and do allow the toothed bucket to be easily removed. The paint finish is to a high standard and the various markings are accurately applied
