Custom Models - The RH90 Excavator

 This is a model that I am currently working on. It is a kit of the O&K RH90 Face Shovel by OHS.

The picture above shows the various resin parts from the face shovel kit. I have already started preparing the parts, and I tend to find that the resin parts are much easier to work with and generally require less work to prepare.

Here are the undercarriage parts. The track frames have been prepared and built and the drive wheels fitted. The central undercarriage casting connects to the track frames to complete the undercarriage. The upper plate can then be bolted to the undercarriage.

I am finishing the model in the same colour scheme as the RH90 backhoe in the 2 tone blue/white livery. The face shovel is going to be the electric version which has a different main body casting and electric motors in place of the diesel engines. There is also an electric cable holder that fits to the undercarriage.

Here is a picture of the finished electric cable assembly fitted to the undercarriage.

This is the main boom showing the hydraulic hose details. The remaining flexible tubing and etched walkways have still to be fitted.

This picture shows the electric motors fitted to the frame. The rear counterweight still needs another coat of primer before being finished in the polar white colour.

The main body and cab have had their first coat of primer and I am about to prepare them for their second coat. I am hoping to have the model finished in the next couple of weeks.
