Custom
Models - The Bucyrus 195B Rope Shovel
This is a
model that I have build from a kit by OHS Models. I have chosen to paint it in
a 2 tone blue/white colour
scheme. There is a lot of preparation required on the parts, especially
the white metal components which require a great deal of filing. The resin parts are relatively clean but required a great deal of sanding to fit correctly, especially the upper and lower body parts.
The cab is detailed inside and out with etched walkways, hand railings and operator controls.

The
picture on the left shows the upper rear deck,
complete with A-Frame which connects to the main boom. Walkways and hand railings are also added around the main deck.
|
This
picture shows the boom detail, including the rope pulleys which control the in/out sliding motion of the stick
.
The
main boom parts are made from resin which does help
with the weight of the model. The bucket can be raised/lowered by winding the drum inside the main housing. The in/out movement of the stick is also fully working .

The
undercarriage is well detailed with rolling wheels,
idler and drive sprocket. The entire undercarriage is
made from white metal and gives good weight for stability.
The metal tracks are individually linked.
|
The
bucket is connected to the stick and is highly detailed with wear protection plates and fully functioning rear door .
