Caterpillar D10 Push Dozer "Twin Stack"

Presented here is the twin stack version of the 1:48th scale Cat D10 pusher from Classic Construction Models, the ideal tractor for assisted scraper loading.

The track frames have raised drive sprockets with plenty of surface detailing of the housings with lower bogies and track tensioners keeping the individually linked tracks taut, while allowing them to rotate smoothly. The main lift cylinders for the straight push blade are mounted to the front frame of the engine bay with flexible hydraulic lines disappearing into the engine bay.

The push arms are connected directly to the main frame and have a good range of height adjustment. The rear of the model is complimented with a 3-shank ripper unit which authentically captures the full range of movement of the original, fully plumbed with hydraulic lines and pinned in place shanks.

The open engine compartment contains a replica of the 700hp Cat D348 V-12 engine block with photo-etch cleverly used for the heat shielding of the exhaust piping which has been fully replicated, as has the radiator housing, air intakes and the twin exhaust stacks rising from the bonnet.

CCM has chosen to release the model with an open operator’s station, complete with ROPs frame and canopy which allows a clear view of the various features and details which include hand and foot controls and central console.

The upper walk platforms have a very fine textured surface simulating the anti-slip panelling of the full sized machine and authentic scaled grab rails have been added around the engine bay and ROPs support structure.

The castings are crisp with panel and bolt detailing all visible and a good quality period accurate paint finish which helps to highlight the casting details. Some of the finer details on the model include the integrated work lights with glass lenses on the front and rear corners of the upper deck along with painted lenses on the front of the engine compartment. The model is supplied with a specification brochure and is individually serialised with only 400 pieces produced.
