1:87th Scale Caterpillar CS-56 Single Drum Compactor

Presented here is the 1:87th scale Caterpillar CS-56 single drum compactor from Norscot. The model is highly detailed throughout which is very good considering its diminutive size with a smooth surfaced, free rolling drum mounted into the articulating front frame and rotating wheels on the rear axle, fitted with rubber tyres that have an authentic tread pattern.

The enclosed cab has a seat and central control console with steering wheel fitted which is visible through the clear glazed windows. This level of detail is very impressive on a 1:87th scale model with rear view mirrors, crisp printing of the caterpillar markings and a good quality paint finish. The new sloping body shape has been captured well, complete with grill detailing cast into the surface and tiny printed lights on the rear bumper.

The CS56 is joined by the CP56 pad foot drum version and make a great pair. It is a pity that Norscot have not released the models in 1:50th scale, especially with the recent release of their 1:50th scale paver models.
