Caterpillar 621K Scraper
Presented here is the 1:50th scale Cat 621K motor scraper which has been produced in China by Tonkin Replicas and re-enforces their position when it comes to detail and realism on a model which is certainly value for money, considering that the majority of the model is made of cast metal and has a very heavy feel.

The hitch between front and rear chassis is particularly well done with a functioning cushion hitch mechanism and working steering hydraulics with a set of hydraulic hoses leading to the rear cylinders.

The cabin has a high standard of replication within, including the tiny Cat logo on the seat while the exterior is fitted with metal grab rails, an air horn, amber beacon and radio aerial. On the review sample, the cab glazing is not crystal clear and has a slight frosting effect.
Metal safety railings incorporating rear view mirrors are added to the front chassis while surprisingly, plastic grab rails have been fitted to the rear chassis along with a laser levelling sensor and plastic fuel tank which is fixed behind the ejector plate with an overflow guard frame added to the bowl. The bowl can be raised and lowered while the apron can be operated and the rear ejector plate will traverse forward to the edge of the bowl.
The paint finish is to a very high standard with authentic placement of the Cat logos and machine designation. If all future Caterpillar models from Tonkin are to this level, then we should be in for a real treat. As with the other models in the series, a collector card is included in the box.
