Caterpillar 390F LME Excavator

Presented here is the 1:50th scale Caterpillar 390F tracked excavator with the original tooling started by Norscot and then taken over by Diecast Masters, so the tooling is not quite to the high levels we are now expecting from Diecast Masters.

Thhe model is a good representation of the 390F, configured with a short stick and large toothed bucket. As far as functionality goes, the range of movement of the boom is restricted, and cannot lower sufficiently for the bucket to touch the ground at full extension which is a little surprising, but maybe this will be rectified on future batches.

The hydraulic hose routing is also done in a way that doesn’t look particularly correct where it connects with the foot of the boom.

Some nice touches include the opening side service door and the upper engine cover lifts, complete with hinged rod to keep it open while the cabin door can be opened, revealing the fitted driver figure which now comes standard with every Caterpillar model.

Being one of the new “High Line” series models, it is packaged in the collectible metal tin which has all round printing including specifications of the machine and the lid has a full colour picture of the real machine.
