Caterpillar 385C FS Tracked Shovel

Presented here is the 1:48th scale Caterpillar 385C FS tracked shovel from CCM. The 385C shovel has accurately captured all the details of the full sized machine very well, from the functioning shovel with hydraulic operated actuation, replicated tooth and wear plating and flexible hoses to the protective covers over the stick and boom cylinders.

The range of movement of the digging equipment is authentic, with narrow gauge track pads typical for quarrying applications and a high rise cab offering a good all-round view. The track frames have access steps and lower roller detailing with good detailing also found on the inside surfaces of the track frames.

The rear engine compartment features two opening covers which reveal the replicated 513hp C18 ATAAC engine and filtration components found within.

A side opening door uncovers the hydraulic pump, complete with flexible hoses while the photo-etched panels have an intricate pattern allowing more of the internal features and cooling systems to be seen.

The cab of the shovel version is raised with access steps integrated into the fixed extension, complete with scaled safety rails. The front and roof windows are covered with protective screens that have crisply cast bars to give a more realistic appearance of a typical quarry configuration.

The cab features an opening door which allows an unobstructed view of the fully modelled interior, a nice addition on the model with all the hand and foot controls present and accurately decorated. The paint finish is excellent with an even coating allowing the fine casting details to show through while the printing of the Caterpillar markings are very crisp.
