Caterpillar 14M Motor Grader
The Caterpillar 14M motor grader model in 1:50th scale from Norscot is the first release of 2007 to show the increase in detail and realism of the line of Norscot products. All new models from Norscot will now have smaller, painted rivets and finer scaled details such as metal hand rails where possible and metal linked tracks. The new range of Caterpillar releases in 2007 demonstrate a vast improvement in the quality from Norscot and is a welcome sight for collectors who are demanding more detail at an affordable price.
The rear of the model features detailed grill with working lights and rear mounted 7 shank ripper which can be lowered. The engine covers have accurate CAT markings and grab rails on the sides and top with working rear suspension and freely rotating wheels with rubber tyres.
The cab exterior is finished with grab rails all round and has working lights fitted front and back and warning beacon on the roof. The fully detailed cab interior, complete with the joysticks which are now used to operate the machine are visible through the clear glazed windows. The articulated steering is functional and operator access steps have been added on both sides of the cab. The paint finish is very good on the model with the distinctive yellow and black colours and "Power Edge" markings printed on the body.
The mouldboard features tilting blade which will slide side to side and rotate. The blade can be raised and angled althought the range of movement is not as much as grader models from other manufacturers like Motorart and First Gear. The front wheels can be positioned and have working suspension.
This is another good model from Norscot and I can only hope that Norscot continue to produce models that are this well detailed.
