Caterpillar 140M Motor Grader

Presented here is the 1:50th scale Caterpillar 140M motor grader model from Norscot. This model is a smaller version of the previously released 14M grader and it looks like Norscot have shrunk the 14M a little without losing any of the fine detailing.

The mouldboard features tilting blade which will slide side to side and rotate. The blade can be raised and angled although the range of movement is a little limited. The blade edge has cast fixing detailing and traverses along the frame smoothly. 

The front wheel linkage has been nicely replicated with small hydraulics providing the steering movement and tilting suspension although the range of movement is a little restricted..

The cab exterior is finished with plastic grab rails all round which are very thin and flexible so care is needed when handling the model. There are work lights integrated into the cab roof with painted lenses and the fully detailed cab interior, complete with the joysticks which are now used to operate the machine are visible through the large glazed windows.

The rear of the model features a detailed grill with work lights and rear mounted 5 shank ripper which can be lowered. All the rivet heads have been covered over in paint and this really adds to the level of realism found on the model. The engine covers have accurate CAT markings and grab rails on the sides and top with working rear pivoting suspension and freely rotating wheels with accurately moulded rubber tyres.

The articulated steering is functional and operator access steps have been added on both sides of the cab. The paint finish is very good on the model with the distinctive yellow and black colours and "Power Edge" markings printed on the body.
