Wirtgen W250i Cold Milling Machine
Presented here is the 1:50th scale Wirtgen W250i cold milling machine which has been produced by NZG. The latest releases from NZG have included more functionality than previously and the Wirtgen W250i is no exception, with a multitude of fine detailing and functionality really bringing the model to life.

The large opening engine cover tilts to reveal the modelled interior, complete with a pair of engines, silencer boxes and exhaust lines while side doors open to show the main drive belt to the milling cutter drum, demonstrating the new dual engine design. The casting includes crisp grill slots with a very nicely defined rear body contour, complete with a rear safety mirror allowing the operator to see behind the rear of the machine and an amber warning beacon. |

Metal safety railings are added on both sides of the driver's station with a folding canopy which works well, reducing the height of the machine for transport. The operator’s platform is fitted with seats on both sides with duplicate controls and a centrally located display console, nicely decorated and realistically capturing the layout of the full sized machine. |
Another nice feature is the folding conveyor frame which uses hydraulics to fold down into transport position along with height adjustment utilising authentically modelled wire cables.
The conveyor can traverse to both sides of the chassis with a flexible rubber belt, complete with raised cleats on the surface for material transfer and a replicated vacuum dust suppressant system which looks good. The transfer conveyor is also fitted with a rubber belt and is visible beneath the machine.

The four track frames are fitted with very nicely engineered, if rather fragile individually linked metal track pads with yellow highlighted surfaces which look very realistic. The supports allow for the track units to be steered while there is also the ability to raise and lower the entire chassis which is another excellent piece of engineering on a 1:50th scale model. |

Beneath the machine, the milling drum is adorned with raised picks with highlighted tips for added realism with a functioning rear scraper and adjustable side plates mimicking the authentic movement of the full sized machine very well.
This is a first class release from NZG showing their dedication to bringing the equipment to life in miniature form. The paint finish is of a very high standard throughout with crisp printing of the Wirtgen logos, orange stripe and machine's designation.
