Wirtgen SP15 Slipfrom Paver with Auger FeedPresented here is the 1:50th scale Wirtgen SP15 slipform paver with auger feed from NZG, who have done a great job in capturing all the details of the full sized machine, producing a scale replica that has some great engineering touches and functionality. Out of the box, the model has a good weight to it for a relatively small item with high levels of detail evident throughout. The machine is based on a three legged design with the yellow tracks giving a striking contrast to the white and grey colour scheme with good detailing moulded into each track pad. Each track assembly pivots with functional steering of all three legs along with the ability to raise/lower the machine to a very good hieght, just like the full sized machine. The operators station goes across the width of the machine with a protective canopy mounted at one side of the platform. The floor panels are crisply cast with both a square grill and diamond plate texture with access steps fitted to one side, complete with accurately scaled safety railings. The machine allows for operation on either side so the control system has individual panels on each side of the platform which have been very nicely printed, allowing the collector to set the model up as required. A cover is provided to fit on the oposite side to the control panel with a central control panel housing also fully replicated. The front legs are mounted to parallel bars which allow the tracks to be accurately positioned either in front of, or offset to where the profile is being laid down while the track frame at the rear of the paver is hydraulically adjustable, sliding along the rear of the chassis for optimum support.
A nice addition on the model is the milling trimmer which prepares the surface to provide a good level surface in front of the mould and this is fully functional on the model, from the height adjustment of the cutter drum which has detailed teeth to the spoil discharge auger to remove the material out of the way. The range of movement coupled with the individual heigh adjustment of each leg allows the model to be authentically posed in a number of working and transport configurations. Other details added to the model include the crisply cast side and top body panels with printed grill texturing and the self-fit light housings that fit to the top of each leg housing. This is another great release from NZG with a quality paint finish throughout and crisp Wirtgen markings, securely packed in a two piece polystyrene carton and printed outer box with a printed information sheet explaining the basic assembly of the supplied parts. |
