Volkswagen Van Set "Mammoet"

Volkswagen Van Set - Mammoet

Presented here is the limited edition set of Volkswagen vans, consisting of the Caddy, Transporter and Crafter in 1:50th scale from WSI. The models are supplied in a very nice presentation box with a small certificate.

The smallest model in the set is the VW Caddy which features clear and coloured plastic front and rear light panels, silver finished wheel hubs with accurate treaded road tyres and rear mounted towing ball socket.

The paint finish is good and the Mammoet markings are crisp with an authentic number plate printed on the front bumper.

The front wheels feature working steering with underside floor panel detailing, rear view mirrors and both front and rear wipers and the interior has been replicated and is visible through the clear front and side windows.

The next van in the set is the Volkswagen Transporter which features good detailing of the body panels with defined side door with highlighted handles. The interior has been reproduced with contoured driver and passenger seats and dashboard all visible through the clear front and side windows.

The front and rear light panels are made from clear and coloured semi-transparent plastic and look authentic. The towing bar has been added and the underside of the van has contoured floor panel with moulded spare wheel and exhaust.

The bumpers front and back are painted in a dark grey to simulate the plastic nature of the real van which is a nice touch, as is the front wheel steering and good looking wheel hubs.

The Volkswagen Crafter is the largest of the three models in the set and has an accurately modelled front grill with prominent VW badge and contoured bumper. The rear view mirrors have integrated indicator lamps and small amber lamps are visible along the sides of the van.

The front wheels have working steering with accurate treaded tyres fitted to the silver plastic wheel hubs and, as with the other vans, a towing bar has been added.

The roof and body panel casting features good detailing of the curves and ribs and there is also underside detailing.

The three models do look good, although they are fairly basic and it is hard for me to see why the set costs 89 Euros. When compared to the Ford Transit and Vauxhall Vivaro vans from Corgi, they look as good as each other and yet the Corgi models cost significantly less.
