Volvo L50F Wheel LoaderPresented here is the 1:50th scale Volvo L50F wheel loader from NZG. This is a welcomed addition to the range and fits nicely between the L30B/L35B and the L60E/L70E and L90E models from Motorart. As with the other recent Volvo releases from NZG, the engineering is fantastic with tons of detail and functionality throughout. The loader arms can be positioned through a very good range of movement, demonstrating the abilities of the full sized machine very well. Flexible hydraulic piping has been added to the model for added realism and the pistons are relatively stiff, allowing the model to hold the pose chosen whilst the general purpose bucket has good tooth and structural detailing visible. The bucket linkage on the model replicates the parrallel linkage of the full sized machine and the range of movement of the bucket is very realistic. The arms are fitted with a non-functional quick coupler which adds to the detail although it would have been interesting to have the ability to remove the bucket, which appears to be riveted in place. The cab interior has been authentically captured with the driver's seat and controls all visible through the slightly tinted windows. The cab exterior is equally well replicated with metal grab rails integrated into the cab frame with a photo-etched windscreen wiper, roof mounted work lights with painted lenses and a roof mounted aerial and amber beacon, not to mention the rear view mirrors and highlighted window seals.
The underside of the model reveals the replicated drivetrain from the front to the rear axle and transfer box. Each axle has mounting bolt head detailing cast into the parts and the driveshaft is pinned and loose allowing the articulated chassis to function which is a nice touch on the model. The rubber tyres have a very crisp moulded tread pattern and are fitted to yellow wheel hubs which have grey centres. The paint finish is excellent all round and allows the casting detail to remain visible with crisply printed markings and Volvo logos. As with the other recent Volvo releases from NZG, the model is packaged in a two piece clear plastic holder which protects the model well. This is inserted into an open front printed cardboard box. |
