1:50th Scale Volvo EW180C Wheeled Excavator
Presented here is the 1:50th scale Volvo EW180C wheeled excavator from Motorart. The model is an upgrade to the previously released EW180B model from Motorart.

The new styled cab fitted to the C series of machines is highly detailed and is fitted with roof and front window debris protection screens which is something not normally found on a wheeled excavator, let alone a model of one. Rear view mirrors, rear pointing lights and roof mounted beacon are also visible while a windscreen wiper can be found behind the front protection screen. The cab interior is fully detailed with operator controls visible through the clear windows. Access to the engine compartment is via the steps on the oposite side of the upperstructure. Metal hand rails have been added and the surface has an authentic anti slip pattern which has been painted grey. The two piece hydraulically adjustable boom is functional with flexible hydraulic pipework added for extra realism. The stick and bucket are joined with small rivets which have been painted over which gives a much better finish to the model.
Warning markings have been added to the stick along with auxiliary pipework. The hydraulics are smooth and are stiff enough to keep the boom and stick in a chosen position while the standard digging bucket features wear protection on the underside with detailed teeth.

The undercarriage features a blade at one end and two outriggers at the other. The blade has two hydraulic cylinders fitted below the hinged debris protection cover which are stiff enough to keep the blade in the position chosen. The wheels are freely rotating and have good hub detail and authentic treaded rubber tyres. This model does not have working steering which is unusual these days. |

The outriggers are fully functional and the hydraulics are nice and stiff. An interesting addition on the model is the addition of metal debris protection plates for the outrigger pistons. This and the Volvo EW180B are the only models I have in my collection which have these fitted and it is a great touch from Motorart, giving the model a more realistic look. |
The rear counterweight has work lights fitted along with the Volvo name and authentic warning markings while the machine's designation is printed on each side of the body. The EW180C from Motorart has a retail price of around £50, measuring 230mm long, 63mm wide and 68mm high with the boom fully extended and has a weight of 280grams.
