1:50th Scale Volvo BL71 Backhoe Loader

This is the long awaited Volvo BL71 Backhoe Loader from Motorart. This model is certainly worth the wait and is an example of what can be achieved in 1:50th scale. The level of detail is exceptional for a model of it's size.

The rear of the model features a fully working backhoe boom, complete with functional boom locking mechanism for traveling.

The stabilisers can be lowered and the boom slides from side to side.

The only thing that does not operate is the extending dipper, but this is not important in my opinion.

The front of the model features a fully functional loader arm with 4 in 1 bucket, complete with pallet forks. The forks can be positioned in their folded (out of use) position and the loader arm features the safety locking mechanism to keep the boom raised. This does not actually lock to keep the bucket raised, but is a great touch which really adds to the model.

The cab is fully detailed, both inside and outside, with all controls reproduced. The model is a little more fragile than others but is, in my opinion, the best 1:50th scale backhoe model produced to date. I am now looking forward to the release of the Volvo EC240 and EW180 models which should follow early 2004.
