1:50th Scale Volvo ABG6870 Wheeled Paver
Presented here is the 1:50th scale Volvo ABG6870 wheeled paver from Motorart. The ABG6870 has a maximum working width of 9 metres with a maximum paving speed of 40 metres per minute and is powered by a 166hp Deutz Diesel TCD2013L04 2V diesel engine.

The rear screed has extending end sections with simulated control panels mounted on the rear corners while the top surface has a diamond plate pattern cast into the surface. |
The front hopper has folding hopper wings with a rubber transfer conveyor with a smooth surface along with front fitted rollers to prevent damage from discharging trucks.
The plastic roof canopy is fixed in place with a small rod connected to the exhaust stack. On the full sized machine, the canopy frame can be folded and the exhaust stack would also fold forward but this is not functional on the model. The main supports are also a little oversized when compared to the real machine

The main drive wheels have treaded rubber tyres fitted whilst the small wheels beneath the hopper have a limited amount of steering and have tyres with a different style tread pattern. The screed is joined to the frame mid way along the undercarriage and can be raised off the ground although the hydraulics are not stiff enough to hold the screed in the air. |
The elevated driver's area has two seats, one at each side which are fitted to frames which can extend out on each side of the model to give the operator a much better view of the work area. The control panel has printed dials, guages and switches present and a steering wheel is placed next to the display panel.
Access to the deck is by the steps at the centre of the chassis which have accurately scaled hand rails on both sides along with steps down the rear of the screed. There is even a floating step which slides into the extending side sections. Other detailing includes the electrical distribution panel with accurately printed switches and warning markings which adds to the realism
