1:50th Scale Volvo A40F Articulated Dump Truck
Presented here is the updated 1:50th scale Volvo A40F articulated dump truck from Motorart which is effectively the A40G badged as the F version with all new tooling over the previous release.
Visually, the model looks great and the new colour scheme for the safety railings is quite interesting, with all the metal railings finished in an orange colour, including the grab rail running round the roof.
The underside of the model highlights the rear drive axles with the modelled driveshafts although the range of movement is very limited and certainly not the same as the earlier A40D models which had superb suspension detailing.

The cabin interior has been modelled in a single colour moulding with some nice external detailing including rear view mirrors and screen wipers. The updated bonnet has been engineered impressively with fine mesh used for the grills which really does enhance the looks of the model with crisp printing of the Volvo name and machine designation. |
The front panel is hinged, lowering to gain access to the interior of the engine bay while also acting as a footing for service personnel

The main bonnet can be opened to reveal the multi-coloured engine bay with the diesel engine, radiator and associated components that have been authentically modelled within. |
While the model is visually impressive, when it comes to functionality, the tipping angle of the dump body is very dissapointing, achieving less than half the angle of the full sized truck and this is somewhat of a surprise considering previous versions of the model have achieved a much better tipping angle.
The paint finish is to Motorart's usual standards with an even coat which allows any surface engraving details to show with accurate placement of the Volvo markings. Pictured above, the A40F is shown alongside the A40G with both models identical in terms of casting with only printing differences observed.
