Vögele Super 2100-3i Tracked Paver
Presented here is the Vögele Super 2100-3i tracked paver in 1:50th scale from NZG, an update to the previously released Super 2100-2 with increased functionality and detailing. The cutting edge Super 2100-3i highway class tracked paver is the most powerful of the new “Dash 3” generation, weighing in at around 22 tonne with a maximum paving width of 13 metres and a lay down rate of up to 1100 tonne per hour.
The front hopper sides are fully functional to tip the material onto the detailed conveyor and rotating rollers are fitted to the pivoting front bar of the model. The individually linked tracks fitted to the chassis are very nicely engineered with delicate bolt fixing detailing on the surface of each pad, complete with a pivoting guard at the front of each track frame to prevent spilled material getting under the tracks.
The model features a new shape canopy with extending side screen extensions and folding frame allowing the height of the model to be reduced to display in a transport configuration, with the exhaust stack also folding although, as with the previous version, the wide screed cannot be dis-assembled so it is not possible to show the model loaded on a low loader.
The upper lifting engine cover and side opening engine covers are a very welcome addition and allow the delicately replicated and decorated Cummins 6-cylinder diesel engine and cooling system within to be seen. It is clear that a lot of engineering has gone into the internal engine bay and this shows the increased attention to detail now being added to the latest NZG models.

The rear of the model is highly detailed with working height adjustment and extending side panels fitted to the 13 metre SB250 fixed screed which give a much wider laying width which allows the paver to cover an entire four lane motorway in one pass.
The ErgoPlus control system controls are mounted on each end of the rear spreader and the augers and support bars of the screed are visible across the entire length of the rear spreading unit. |

The main control station has a sliding control console with decorated switches which allows the paver to be operated from either side. The seats have a swing out motion, complete with glazed side panels which gives a better view of the area and there are accurately scaled hand and safety rails all round the model complete with a walkway across the back of the spreader with authentic anti slip diamond pattern.
The model is supplied in a polystyrene inner with outer cardboard box and printed booklet with details and pictures of the Super 2100-3i at work. The model is a good update to the previous release and shows the additional levels of detail and realism added throughout.
