1:35th Scale Optimas Toro H88 Block Paver

Optimas Toro 88

Presented here is the 1:35th scale Optimas Toro H88 block paving handler from Motorart. This is a strange looking piece of equipment, used for handling block paving products and having the ability to both transport and place the blocks into position. The large enclosed cab has tinted windows which partly obscures the detailed interior. You can make out the central control console with steering wheel and control levers along with the contoured seat with integral armrests. Rear view mirrors have been added to the cab frame and a warning beacon is mounted behind the cab.

The arm linkage placement is interesting and reminds me of the old Bell wheel loader design. The hydraulics are stiff enough to keep the block grab raised but caution needs to be taken to not raise it too high or the pistons will come out of the cylinders.

The rear of the model features an opening engine cover revealing a replicated engine and cooling system within.

A photo etched grill is used on the rear opening in front of the radiator and this is a nice touch. The small wheels freely rotate but there is no functional steering on the model.

The main block grab frame is made of plastic and is very intricate with handling rails on both sides allowing positioning of the block load.

Chain links are used on the model which adds to the realism but they do look a little over scale for the size likely to be found on the full sized machine. The moulded brick block is a part of the attachment casting so the model cannot be posed without the bricks which is a shame.

All in all, this is a good model of a very unusual and unique machine with a good even paint finish and accurate placement of the tampo printed markings.
