Terex TW110 Wheeled Excavator

Presented here is the 1:50th scale Terex TW110 wheeled excavator which has been produced by NZG. It is a stunning replica with plenty of fine detailing and realism packed into a fairly small footprint.

The undercarriage features a steering axle with two independently adjustable stabilisers with pivoting pads which are fairly stiff, allowing the model to be raised off its wheels. One axle is fixed and one has working steering with each silver finished wheel hub holding dual style rubber tyres with a crisp moulded tread pattern.

The cabin has a replicated interior, complete with a central column topped with a steering wheel while the joystick controls are integrated into the armrests. The window seals are printed and the door and engine panel handles have been highlighted with tiny safety and warning labels added for extra realism.

The main body casting has accurately captured the contours of the full sized machine with inset grill indentations and a dark grey counterweight, finished with circular lights with both printed and red plastic inserts for the lenses. The silver exhaust pipe and rear safety mirror have also been added.

The TPA boom fitted to the model is of a two-part design using hydraulics to adjust the angle, allowing it to work in confined spaces.

The added hydraulic hoses are a good addition to the model with authentic movement of the digging equipment, from the pivoting king post through to the bucket linkage.

The toothed bucket can be detached from the coupler which is a nice feature although there are no further tools included in the box.

Auxiliary piping has been presented on the model with lines engraved onto the sides of the stick and boom with flexible hoses added throughout. All rivet heads have been painted over and the bucket has the Terex logo printed on the sides with a safety panel printed to the top of the stick, a difference to the TW125 version of the model.

The paint finish is of a very high standard with authentic placement of the Terex logos on the boom and counterweight, not forgetting the tiny safety markings and highlighted grills. The TW110 is shown below alongside the TC125 tracked excavator, also produced by NZG.
