Sennebogen 875E Material Handler

Presented here is the 1:50th scale Sennebogen 875E material handler which has been produced in China by Ros. The Sennebogen 875E tips the scales around the 150 ton mark and is ideally suited to port handling and industrial applications with a reach of up to 27 metres and a maximum load capacity of 7.5 ton. Power is provided by a Cummins Tier 4i diesel engine delivering 525hp while a 430kW electric motor is an option.

The long track base provides a steady platform and the interesting P156/580 gantry design, complete with an access stairway and upper platform really are impressive.

The structural detailing of the gantry includes the various bolt heads and the raised height allows for high sided trucks to pass beneath with ease.

The track pads are individually linked and do rotate although they are a little loose on the review sample

The 875E is predominantly produced from metal with plastic only used where needed, and the model is a much better executed release because of it. All the various walkways and safety railings are made of scale thickness metal which really adds to the quality look and feel.

The Mastercab cabin has a light coloured finished interior consisting of the operator’s seat and hand controls with a side console, all visible through the large glazed windows which have printed black window gaskets, roof mounted lights and a large screen wiper

A side platform is attached, complete with metal safety railings and the entire assembly is fitted to a hydraulically elevating and forward moving linkage which allows variable adjustment of the cabin for an outstanding view of the work area.

The boom and stick are fitted with hydraulic lines including flexible hoses connecting the various hydraulic cylinders. The stiffness is reasonable, but because of the sheer weight of the boom when the stick is at full extension, it cannot hold the pose for long before the cylinders lose friction.

The addition of two different work tools, a 6-tine scrap grab and a clamshell grab allow for different configurations to be shown.

This is easily achieved using the supplied pin and tucking in the flexible hydraulic hoses into the recess at the end of the stick.

Unlike previous models, there are no holes in the main lift cylinders so it is not possible to lock the boom in a raised position. The 875E has also been released in 1:50th scale with a MS180 wheeled undercarriage which shares many of the upper carriage castings.
