1:50th Scale Sennebogen 683 Tracked Telescopic Crane

The 1:50th scale Sennebogen 683HD crawler crane was originally produced in a yellow and grey decoration with a limited edition turquoise version also produced. Ros made a good job on the development of the model and have now released a slightly updated version, finished in the Sennebogen Green colours. The model features a nicely detailed tracked undercarriage with individually linked metal tracks on extending frames. The track frames have rotating idler and drive wheels which are sprung to keep tension on the tracks which rotate well. The undercarriage casting includes front and rear mounted counterweights which have raised lifting eye detailing

The cabin is mounted to a tilting mechanism which allows about 20 degree of movement. There is a platform below the cab with authentic cutouts while the cab frame has rear view mirror and grab rails added. The operator station is finished with seat, joystick controls, track direction levers and side control console all visible through the clear glazing. The side of the model has authentic silver coloured tread plate panels and grab rails along with rear view mirror and access steps. Authentic warning markings have been added and the paint finish is good overall with sharp Sennebogen markings on the sides and boom.

The rear of the model features two cable drums with the rear one used to raise/lower the main hook. The grey counterweights are cast as one piece but they do look like they are separate which gives the model a more realistic look. The addition of locking chains and the working counterweight lifting mechanism are an excellent tough and it is a shame that Ros chose to fix the counterweight in place. The Sennebogen name is embossed in the lower counterweight sections while the side sections have well defined red and white warning markings.

The main boom is metal with a single hydraulic cylinder which is stiff enough to hold the boom in the raised position. There are four plastic extending booms and the boom head is also plastic with machined metal pulleys and guide rods. The new adjustable jib with single line headache ball is one of the main differences over the previous version.
