Scania R 6x4 tractor with Nooteboom 2-axle Pendel X Trailer

Presented here is the 1:50th scale Scania R 6x4 prime mover with Nooteboom 2-axle Pendel X trailer from NZG. The Scania 6x4 rig has been engineered with tons of details and this is good to see, especially with the stunning models that WSI are producing and in my opinion, the model reviewed here from NZG is just as good.

The steps up to the cab have silver textured surfaces and there are diamond plate panels on the rear chassis. The side mounted fuel tanks have a chromed finish with metal side panel protection and painted mounting frame bars and filler cap cast into the tanks.

The wing mirrors are fitted out of the box and the cab roof has amber beacons and air horns along with a small roof window while the main windscreen has wiper blades fitted. The paint finish is excellent with a number of details picked out with paint like the door handles and radiator grills.

The tyres fitted to the wheel hubs have a realistic moulded road tread pattern and the silver finished wheel hubs are highly detailed. The metal wheel arches over the rear wheels have light clusters fitted which have red, amber and silver lenses along with number plate and printed Scania logos on the simulated rubber mud flaps.

The Nooteboom 2-axle Pendel X trailer is supplied out of the box with the small extension frame pieces already assembled. Two larger extension sections are also provided to make the trailer longer and these pin into place.

The decking on the bed consists of two pieces with a simulated wooden surface with plastic spacer bars in two different lengths that are used to raise the deck panels to the same height as the outer frames. The frames can be extended for wider loads (as pictured below)

The gooseneck can be detached from the trailer frame and has stiff hydraulics allowing the bed to be raised into travel position.

The sides of the storage bin are painted silver and have a ridged front surface while simulated wooden panels have been painted onto the gooseneck, along with painted diamond plate panels

Both axles also feature linked steering with a decent amount of movement.

The control panel is mounted below the upped deck and a storage area, complete with two spare tyres is located on the top of the gooseneck, above the kingpin.

The rear module has two sets of axles with four tyres fitted to each axle. The rear wheels have a working suspension mechanism which is a nice addition on the model and this can result in the rear axle being raised off the ground.

A number of small metal pins are provided in the box and these fit into the holes on the rear section. There are also four plastic safety flags with red chevron printed pattern which also fit into the holes on the gooseneck and rear trailer frame.

The trailer is a good size for transporting construction equipment and looks good with the New Holland 190B wheel loader or Volvo ABG6870 paver on it's bed.
