Liebherr R924 Compact Tracked ExcavatorThis is the Liebherr R924 Compact tracked excavator model in 1:50th scale from Conrad. The detail level is amazing for a model so small. The body casting has been very well done and includes real cutouts to replicate the various cooling grills. The newly styled cab is highly detailed with handrails, mirrors and internal controls. Even the new central lube system has been reproduced on the rear of the body. The undercarriage is supperb, with sprung loaded idler wheels and individually linked metal tracks. This is the best undercarriage detail on a Conrad model and is hopefully a sign of things to come. I believe Liebherr have now stated that all their tracked excavator models must have metal tracks. I hope this extends to all tracked models in the future. (The R954C model will be available Jan 2006 and will also have a new undercarriage with linked tracks) The bucket is nicely done and has plenty of detail, including wear protection. The boom and stick are brand new castings and are fully operational, including being able to raise the boom so the stick fits within the undercarriage footprint.
The finish of the model is supperb, as is expected of Conrad The markings are very crisp and help to make the model one of the best Liebherr models to date.
(The undercarriage is a perfect fit for the previous R914 models from Conrad and looks fantastic when fitted to the R924 model with Leonard boom)
