1:50th Scale Potain IGO21 tower crane

This is the new 1:50th scale Potain IGO21 fast erecting tower crane from TWH which is distributed by NZG.

There are 2 versions available, the standard version shown here and an "American" version, finished in red.
This model, like the other TWH models, is supplied with a booklet describing the machine in real life. The model features adjustable stabilisers and both side compartments on the crane open to reveal the internal workings of the machine.

the picture above shows the opening compartments on the model.

even the electric supply can be seen in the picture above, allowing connection to either 240volts or 3 phase supplies. The picture above also shows the main hook hoist.

The picture on the left shows the way the crane can be self assembled using the onboard frame to allow the counterweights to be assembled without the need for another crane.

This is done using the main hoist and both sides of the crane can be reached by swinging the frame around. This is a great addition to the model, adding excellent details that are usually missed from other manufacturers.

The trolley can be traversed using the traversing drum mounted at the base of the boom. This is relatively smooth once the crane has been fully assembled.

The hook can be raised/lowered using the main winch drum, accessed from inside the control panel.

For transport, there is a wheel bogie that attaches to the main structure. A second set of steering wheels connect between the counterweights holder.

the jib can be angled if required, and is shown here with the second half of the jib still in it's folded position.

This is a good, highly detailed model with plenty of features. The main boom and jib are a little flimsy and do look like they will bend very easily, so care needs to be used when erecting it.
